Quantock Hills Photo Walk: January Short Route
Quantock Landscape Partnership Scheme: It can be all too easy to forget to tune into nature during these colder, winter months. Take a step away from the frenetic pace of modern life and direct your view outwards, capturing the beauty of the great outdoors, with the camera on your phone or the camera around your neck.
On our Quantock Hills Photo Walks it doesn’t matter if you don’t have a fancy camera or technical expertise, it’s about appreciating your surroundings and finding somewhere natural that you can immerse yourself this time of year. The camera is a fantastic tool to encourage you to slow down and focus your attention, it’s a mindfulness exercise that can be a very relaxing process.
Our Short Route Photo Walk is for people who would like a dose of nature, but would like to spend a while enjoying each stage of the journey. Perhaps you need a little longer to frame and compose your shot, or you need plenty of time to walk the route. We’ll all walk with each other at a relaxed pace, slowing down and observing the surroundings. Stoppages are welcome, however, we will take a longer scheduled break at the cafe during our journey.
This Short Route is a 6km walk and has flatter terrain which includes 117m elevation across the day. We will journey from Nether Stowey to Over Stowey, taking in the beautifully picturesque landscape and heritage sites along the way. Stout walking boots are recommended, especially for the wet and soft ground we’ve experienced lately. Please bring water with you and any snacks/lunch you require – there will be an opportunity for refreshments at the Foxy Bean cafe along the route at the midway point.
There are no rules for what to do with your images when you get home, but we would really encourage you to join our Facebook and social channels, tagging us and the Quantock Hills in any photographs.
All additional information about the walk, including directions and parking, will be sent on booking. If you have any questions about the walk, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
